Offer offenders community projects
Community payback has returned, with a chance for members of the public to vote for projects on which ex offenders help with as part of thier probation.
The scheme has been succesfully running nationally for numerous years and has seen great results, with approximimately 55,000 projects having been completed so far.
The projects put foward range from smaller tasks such as clearing church yards, removing grafitti to fullly restoring abandoned areas and bulidings back in to safe public use.
A requirement of the offenders working on projects is to wear orange jackets with ‘Community Payback’ clearly visibly as to allow the public to see what kind of work they will be doing.
Caroline Edwards, Probation’s Community Payback officer in Manchester commented:
”The offenders are constantly learning new skills and working as part of a team not only to improve thier employability but with the communities also benefiting from the work they have completed when they visit the areas.”
To nominate or suggest projects you would like to see the West Midlands probation area to get involved in visit the site and fill in a quick form.
The winners will be announced early June.
