‘Green WINE’ – The next eco friendly step
Ways of being green continue to broaden as recycling and eco friendly lifestyles increase in all areas of the UK.
After tackling a large amount of recycling materials, eating organic foods and using energy efficient electricity, it is time to take the next step in living an eco friendly lifestyle. A new ‘green’ version of one of Britain’s favourite substances has been introduced and recommended – alcohol!
Organic wine may be eco warrior’s new method to saving the earth. Wine fans can now enjoy the drink with the reassurance that it is contributing to a ‘greener lifestyle’ and is better for the planet than just your average bottle of wine.
Winemaker, Joe Bastianich, has given advice on where to find and how to buy organic wine.
He said: “The overall concept is that wines are made naturally with no chemicals, in a biologically sustainable way. But organic wines are now being made all around the globe, from the United States and Europe to the southern hemisphere. In fact, a growing number of producers practice some form of natural grape growing and winemaking because they believe these methods make better wine.”

Bastianich also claims that many wine makers have begun producing wines in this natural way as it is ‘the right thing to do.’
He said: “It’s really worthwhile because at the end of the day organic wine is about making better wine.”
An organisation named ‘The great South African Wine Trail’ recently visited Birmingham on May 22 to give free samples of various organic wines from South Africa. The event took place from in Brindley Place throughout the day and was just one of the trips the group has made throughout the UK over May and June to promote the range of wines.
The website claims: “South African wines are produced in one of the world’s most breathtaking ecosystems, the Cape Floral Kingdom. This World Heritage site is home to over 9,600 species of flora and fauna – more than in the entire northern hemisphere!”
Clearly eco friendly wine is a must try for those who are excited by the lifestyle.
