BRMB walkathon raises money to support recovering soldiers at QEH

The BRMB walkathon which returns to Birmingham June 6th will not only give the chance of raising money for charity but also the possibility of winning some signed trainers from the Prince of Darkness Ozzy Osbourne and Beverley Knight.

These are not the only celebrities involved in the charity walk, names such as Ellie Goulding, Robyn and Scouting for Girls have also signed up for the trainer auction which will raise money for the military support facility at the new Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

The walk which will help fund the £1 million support facility will take place around the citys outer circle bus route and will raise money for the injured soldiers from Afghanistan. The facility will offer the support and help needed for soldiers who need to learn to cope with their injuries whilst still spending time with family and fellow soldiers.

The money will fund facilities which would not normally be available to them such as a dedicated area just for the soliders at the hospital away from the clinical areas where they can recuperate in a comfortable homely environment.

The 26 mile walk which is estimated to take around 8 hours is hoping to attract an impressive number of 10,000 walkers who will take part in the BRMB walkathon which is sponsored by Cadburys world. It’s too late to register to walk now but you can still offer your support by turning up on the day and spurring on those who will be walking.

This year everyone can get involved as the Junior Walkathon/ Family Walkathon have been set up which should last around 2 hours or the half marathon which is 4 hours.

To bid on the trainers go to the ebay auction.
