Perry Barr combats carbon emissions

A Perry Barr car dealership is set to hold energy saving lessons next week to encourage drivers to reduce their carbon footprints.

Heartlands Ford Perry Barr will host the event on Thursday March 19 as part of the Eco Drive campaign set in place by Ford Retail and the Energy Saving Trust.

With energy saving tips that can save drivers up to £250, the free workshops will offer practical guidance on eco-driving techniques.

The workshops will encourage visitors to sign up to the Eco Drive Challenge, which is taking place on March 27 and 27.

Participants will receive expert advice from a specialist eco-driving instructor during the challenge.

The changes needed to reduce carbon emissions promise to remain simple and adaptable, with many techniques leading to a safer and less stressful driving style. Kirstin Williams, 22, Perry Barr resident, commented:

”I think the workshops are a really good idea, especially in our current economic crisis.

“I spend a fortune on petrol traveling to work everyday, so learning some tips that will save me money and protect the environment is always a bonus.”

Techniques are easily implemented in most people’s driving styles reducing driver’s carbon footprints as well as reducing fuel consumption. Easy simple steps can make a big impact on both driving skills and then environment – so give them a go.

The free workshops take place from 6pm Thursday 19.  To book your place or sign up for the Eco Drive Challenge call Heartlands Ford Perry Barr on 0121 344 5252 or visit the dealership on Aldridge Road, Perry Barr.

  1. Good initiative and story – but I think Perry Barr generally has gone past the point of no return a long time ago!

  2. With a bit of luck they might teach som of them how to drive properly too while they are at it! Good idea though, hopefully they will do similar schemes in other areas of Birmingham and the rest of the UK too.

  3. Yee of little faith Lucas!

Yeah I’d like to see something like this in my home town. There’s so many little things you can do to cut down emissions, and a few extra pennies in your pocket wouldnt hurt!
