Saved By the Well

Saved By the Well is the first in a new series of children’s books launches this Friday, that aim to teach about social, economic and environmental issues.

The first book is about the topic ‘water scarity’ and chronicles the story of how a village gets a new water pump system installed.

This is a great way of getting children involved with issues that they would be otherwise unaware of, whilst keeping them interested.

More than 1000 children in the US will be given the stories to read and Dream Village who have produced the books say that at least 50% of profits will be donated to charity.

The books are available online as e-books and available to buy as print publications aswell.

To get the thoughts from book readers, i asked some people for their thoughts on the new books.

Holly, 20

‘These books are a great idea, i think all schools should have them’

Jane, 39

‘ I can see why they would be useful, but i am not sure if they already have anything like that’

Karl, 24

‘The books look good, i am a teacher and i think that kids could do with things like this to keep them interested’

Emma, 26

‘I think they look good, and if they release others i think its a good cause’

  1. Who have written them?

    Where can people buy them?

More than 1000 children in the US will be given the stories to read

Are they only meant for the US market? or are the issues applicable to the UK as well?

I’m not sure how useful a vox pop, among what I assume is UK citizens, is for a book released in the US?

  5. Hi Everyone!
Thanks for covering us and thanks for the kind words. I apologize for taking so long to respond to this but I just found this post today (thank you too, Google Alerts).

Here is a preview of the book so you can get a better feel for the details: http://tinyurl.com/savedbythewellpreview

Anthony, Andrew, Kasper, and Kimberly, the books are available for purchase through our Website as of now. We are focused on the US market to start, but the book has universal appeal.

Our second book, “The World’s Greatest Pillowfight” will be available in August. It teaches children how to take an idea they have (for a volunteer event or a fundraiser) and bring it to life. Our third book, “Priceless: Arvind’s Story” is due out in October, and focuses on economic development issues in India.

You can email me with any questions: suneet@dream-village.org

    Thanks for talking about us.
