Woodgate’s Conservation Workdays ‘desperately’ need the public
Woodgate Valley Country Park ‘desperately’ need volunteers for their Conservation Workdays on 4th and 18th March to help improve the park for the public.
The poor weather this winter has put people off helping and hindered the output of their annual Conservation work.
Woodgate have been holding their Conservation Workdays for the past 5 years from November to March and they are keen for them to continue.
Why it’s worth people’s spare time
Volunteers would be helping to give something back to the community who use the park regularly and Woodgate are keen to get the public involved with their management plan to improve the park and its surroundings.
A worker at their Visitor Centre said:
‘The management plan for the park has been going well so far.
Our conservation workday’s are pretty popular but we really need more people to participate for the management plan to be successful.’
What Conservation Workdays involve
The main activities at Woodgate’s Conservation Workday’s include clearing and prepping areas of the park ready for the spring/summer.
Some of their recent activities have included cultivating areas of the park to try and increase their existing population of blue bells by encouraging more to grow.
