B&Q Question Wind Turbines
Retailer B&Q are investing £150,000 in a study on wind turbines after a report by Encraft last month questioned their effectiveness.
The report stated that they only performed a fraction of what the manufacturer claims were and B&Q have ‘temporarily’ sidelined Windsave turbines.
David Cameron seemed ahead of the rest when he installed a wind turbine on top of his home in North Kensington last year.
His move however came under criticism as he lives on a street that does not see much wind, when turbines should be placed on smooth topped hills with no obstructions such as buildings and trees.
Many claimed it to be a political gimmick and seemed justified in this statement when the turbine was taken down due to wrong positioning and never went back up.
Wind turbines at B&Q can cost between £1,900 and £18,000 depending on size and type of system and they can last up to twenty years.

Good structure and good story – but where are the links? Where did you get this from?

I’ve thought about investing in one of these, as I live near the top of a hill in (what seems to be) a windy location, but I still haven’t decided if the cost is worth it…
Interesting blog, btw! I’ll keep reading!

Twenty years! Blimey…
Wind turbines have been regularly featured in local news over the last few years as people object to them “ruining” the countryside, or picturesque views…
Have a look at http://bit.ly/bOAXj http://bit.ly/7qlBR to see the some of the opposition…
But if you can’t put a wind turbine on your house, in your back garden or in the countryside without someone moaning.. what other alternatives are there??

Interesting links, Georgie. There seems to be a lot of scepticism about wind turbines at the moment, but I think that we should all be supportive even if it is only remotely helping the environment.

Thats true.. I just think some people like to moan for the sake of it!
