Birmingham parks for the week beginning 10th August
Time for another weekly roundup of the activities in Birmingham’s parks, but despite it being summer we have only four activities to report on for this week.
On Saturday 15th August from 2PM, in the Edgbaston Reservoir there’s the chance to get involved with a History Day Guided Walk, reminiscing back to 1823 when the reservoir opened as a ‘top up’ for Birmingham’s canal system. Enjoy the walk and look out for wildlife like the newts that inhabit the area.
Sutton Park’s National Nature Reserve is celebrating the International Year of Astronomy by using telescopes, projection equipment and other solar-related activities to safely observe the sky on Sunday 16th August from 11AM onwards. The Birmingham Astronomy Society is holding monthly events this year.
Another exciting Bat Night is happening in Woodgate Valley Country Park on Friday from 8PM. The park rangers will give a short talk and a walk in the dark to see what bats have made their homes in Woodgate. Booking is essential, and a torch might come in handy too!
Check back with Birmingham Recycled this week for more details of Northfield’s weekly Green Gym.
