Birmingham Friends of the Earth need new faces
Birmingham Friends of the Earth are hosting an open evening on Thursday 18th June at 7:30PM for people who are interested in getting involved in their four current environmental campaigns.
The first campaign is putting pressure on Birmingham City Council to make steps to make Birmingham greener.
The next pushes for planet-friendly farming, as Friends of the Earth believe that all of Europe is presently feeding it’s animals soy food that comes from South America where the rainforest is being destroyed and .
Birmingham Friends of the Earth is also organising what they hope to be the biggest march yet to stop climate change in December, when the UN climate summit in Copenhagen takes place.
Lastly, the organisation is calling for the default limit on all residential roads in Birmingham to be 20mph to make them safer for cyclists, predestrians and all road users. Birmigham Recycled has looked at the benefits that this change implements.
Joe Peacock, Campaigns Co-ordinator, said:
“We have a great group of people who help us campaign to make Birmingham a greener city, but there is a lot of work to do.
“We are always looking for new people to get involved and have created this evening as a welcoming event to show what anyone can do, no matter what their background or knowledge of environmental issues is.
“New faces and ideas are what any group thrives on, so we look forward to seeing everyone on Thursday.”
This Launch Pad event is taking place at The Warehouse in Digbeth.
